Ski resorts celebrating Valentine’s Day
Are you a lonely skier looking for love on Valentine’s Day? If so, get yourself to Snowbird, Utah, this Tuesday to join in the resort’s unique speed dating event – on a chairlift.
To entice singles to visit Snowbird for Valentine’s day, the resort is offering all-day adult chairlift tickets for just €40, and they’ve designated one of their lifts – the Peruvian Express – as ‘singles only’ for the day. Speed daters have the chance to ride the lift together, to chat en route to the summit, to ski back down together and, if they get on well, to spend the rest of the day skiing together – or just get back on the lift and give it another go.
“Our Valentine’s singles line is a unique way of speed dating, and Snowbird is the perfect place to meet fun friends,” commented Dave Fields, Vice President of Resort Operations, who proposed to his wife on a chairlift.
If you’ve already found our significant other, you may prefer a romantic break in Courmayeur in the Aosta valley. This glamorous Italian resort claims claims Saint Valentine as its patron saint. The town is smothered with heart-shaped balloons, and love messages are posted along the main drag. The locals celebrate 14 February with fancy dress processions, folk music and partying in true Aostan style.
For the ultimate romantic dinner for two, those with a head for heights may choose to surprise your loved one with a starlit 3-course dinner in the Mont Chery gondola in the French resort of Les Gets. Each of the lift’s cabins will be decorated to create a cosy, romantic setting, and each gourmet course will be served as you pass through the lift station. This dinner-lift package costs just €50pp with champagne and wine included at www.lesgets.com/valentine.
