Nevica – new skiwear for kids
Who remembers Nevica – the Seventies skiwear brand that many of us skied in as children?
It was famed for its colourful, almost fluorescent ski clothing and made its mark as an international brand leader in the Nineties after sponsoring the British Olympic ski team.
Funnily enough, we only recently threw out an old Nevica ski jacket with a luminous dayglo-pink stripe across the chest, that had been knocking about in our loft for, literally, decades. Shame… it might have been a collectors’ item!
In its heyday, Nevica was always a forward-looking company. It was among the first to introduce many technical innovations, leading the way in waterproof and breathable fabrics, and the first brand to use fluorescent fabrics.
Now, this month, Nevica is being relaunched with the support of retail giant Sports Direct.com – excellent news for families looking for fun and affordable ski skiwear. The clothing is specifically targeting families, with special ranges for kids, as well as first-time and intermediate skiers.
What’s more, the new-look Nevica kit still features the bright, bold colouring for which the brand is famed – appealing not only to kids but also excellent to parents who want to be able to spot their children easily on the slopes!
With the backing of ‘brand ambassador’ Graham Bell (former Olympic skier and BBC2’s Ski Sunday presenter), Nevica looks set to become a household name once more.
So have a hunt in your loft… your ancient ski jacket may well be back in fashion again!
