Kaiserschmarrn – the Emperor’s Mess
Instead of serving your usual pancake recipe on Shrove Tuesday (12 February), why not feed the kids Kaiserschmarrn – a delicious (and very filling) Austro-Bavarian pancake whose name means the ‘Emperor’s Mess’.
It is traditionally eaten either as a main course or a dessert, accompanied by plum or apple sauce. What’s more, it’s simple to prepare, and you don’t have to worry if your pancakes fall apart… they’re supposed to be a ‘mess’!
