Hat trick for Fanny Smith

Perfect skiing conditions in Val Thorens

After a disappointing first day, when the qualifying rounds had to be cancelled due to bad visibility, yesterday’s Ski Cross World Cup was staged under blue skies and perfect snow conditions in Val Thorens, and FamilySkiNews was there to cover the event.

It was a clean sweep for the Swiss, with Armin Niederer winning the men’s event and Fanny Smith clinching her third win in a row in the women’s event.  So far she remains unbeaten, as we reported earlier here – a remarkable achievement given that she’s only just come back to the circuit following major surgery.  With an English mother and an American father, we think it’s a great shame Fanny doesn’t race for team GB.
