A Christmas Carol
On Christmas Eve 1818 in Oberndorf, a delightful village just outside Salzburg, two men inspired by the Christmas atmosphere, composed a simple song to celebrate Midnight Mass:
“Silent night, holy night,
all is dark, save the light…”
They never thought their song would become one of the world’s most famous and beloved carols. You can discover the whole story by clicking here, the Sankt Nikolaus steam train trips and also how to visit the village of Oberndorf to join in with their festive yuletide celebrations.
