The London Ski Show
This year the London Ski & Snowboard Show takes place at a new time – not during half-term – and at a new venue.
The show will run from Thursday to Sunday on 5-8 November.
It will no longer be at Earls Court or Olympia – its homes for the past four decades, but at Battersea Evolution in Battersea Park. And it will be indoors and outdoors – and aiming for a more authentic ‘alpine’ experience.
Little surprise then that the slogan for this year is London’s Alpine Festival as its organisers plan to bring the Alps to the capital – recreating a ski village atmosphere, with emphasis on authentic cuisine and après ski bars, an outdoor shopping village boasting all the top snow sports brands, demonstrations, hands-on activities and destination showcases.
There will also be a chance to see the experts in action as they demonstrate their tricks on Mount Battersea, a 50ft kicker made of real snow.
It will be interesting to see what impact the new format, the new location and the new date will have on the London Ski Show. The organisers assure us it will have better food and a cosier alpine atmosphere this year. Transport links are less convenient and the date (now during term-time rather than half-term) is bound to impact on numbers. It will certainly be different from the Show’s traditional venue, Earl’s Court (see our report from last year’s show HERE) but, with bargains and demos galore, one thing’s for sure – it promises to get us in the mood for the imminent ski season.
Here at FamilySkiNews, we have a handful of free tickets to give away to readers for the London Ski & Snowboard Show so we’ll be drawing names out of a hat next Monday – and you can choose which day you’d like to attend.
All you have to do is send us an email to contact@familyskinews.com to stating you are entering the competition and then like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
Your name then goes into a draw and if you are successful you just collect your tickets from the front desk. We will contact entrants to let them know whether they have been successful or not by Monday 2 November.
