The London Ski Show 2014 – 15 reasons why you should bring all the family
The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Show is bringing the mountains to London starting starting tomorrow. What better way to spend the half-term – four days packed full of activities, demos and snowsport fun for all the family. What’s more, kids under 11 go FREE!
The show starts tomorrow and will run at Earls Court 2 from 30 October – 2 November 2014.
With live freestyle demonstrations, fashion shows, lessons for all abilities, après bars, live music, Olympic athletes and over 250 top brands, tour operators and chalet companies showcasing the best in winter sports, it’s the perfect place to kick-start your season!
Here are just 15 reasons why you should bring all the family – young and old – for a day out there before the Half Term holiday is over:
1 Come and meet Santa at the Visit Norway stand (Norway Resorts Bar). They’ll be able to
take a picture with Father Christmas and will also be given a present!
2 Check out the latest brands in the fashion shows then get kitted out in the newest ski and snowboarding gear.
3 Have a go on a ski simulator or in the shooting gallery – to see if you’d be any good at the biathlon – at the French Pavilion (Stand G21)
Try out ‘ringoing’ – sliding downhill in a big rubber tube!
4 Try out tubing – whizzing down the slopes at high speed in a giant inflatable ring.
5 Cuddle a sled-dog at the French Pavilion (Stand G21)
6 Get some personalised stickers made for your next ski trip in the Morzine virtual village, with Stick’em Up stickers.
7 Pick up some hot tips from the experts in the Mountain Talks Theatre, including pros Jenny Jones and Aimee Fuller on Sochi 2014, Martin Bell presenting the best new skis for the season, and Natives company explaining what it’s really like to be a seasonnaire for all budding gap-year snowfiends. theatre..
Ski show tricks!
8 Take time out from shopping to watch your tinies bounce and slide at the kiddie’s snow-themed play corner (beside a conveniently placed coffee bar!).
9 Little ones can meet some of their favourite celebrity ‘friends’ – the Ice Queen, Princess, Happy Snowman and Ice Master will be performing live tomorrow at midday. Join them for an interactive sing-a-long and meet & greet.
10 Pick up a free lift pass ahead of the season in resorts around Europe and the UK snow centres. Over 20,000 to give away!
11 Have a free virtual ski lesson with Warren Smith Ski Academy (Stand F85 and B12). For the first time ever at the London Ski Show, this celebrated ski school is giving visitors a chance to have a lesson in a realtime Video Analysis Booth, plus honest critique!
12 Wonder at the UK’s finest riders will take to the ski and snowboard rails for an exciting series of live demos, or marvel at the crazy tricks and antics of the Animal WD-40 Bike Tour demos.
13 If you’re already an intermediate or above, get some expert tips from the pros in a freestyle ski or snowboard lesson.
14 Have your first ever lesson on skis or snowboard. There’s even a special Burton Riglet centre, introducing little ones to snowboarding.

The show is open tomorrow (Thursday 30 October) 11am-9.30pm; Friday 31 October 10am-9.30pm; Saturday 1 November 10am-6pm; Sunday 2 November 10am-6pm. Tickets cost £12/£5 (adult/child 11-16 or student). A family ticket is available for 2 adults and 2 children for £25, and under 11s go free!
