Thanks to the heavy dumps of snow in Colorado in recent weeks, and despite the official closing last Sunday, Breckenridge and Vail resorts are extending their season by one extra weekend – 19-21 April. 

What’s more, skiing will be free this weekend for all 2012/13 Vail Resorts season pass holders.  Otherwise it’s $50 for a lift ticket, or $25 for skiers/boarders with a season pass from another resort.  

To date, Breckenridge has received over 5ft of snow this April!  Just this week a further 16 inches have fallen; 24 inches in Vail!  And more even white stuff is forecast…

The ski and snowboard passes for Vail and Breckenridge for the 2013/14 winter season are already on sale, including the aptly-named ‘Epic’ Pass at US$689/US359 (adults/kids).  

This enables you to ski or board in eight world-class resorts across three states and 24,980 acres, including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado, and Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in Tahoe.  It also gives you five free days of skiing in Verbier as we recently reported in our blog Vail + Verbier = An Epic Partnership), if you fancy a hop across the pond to extend your ski season!

The Epic ‘Local’ Pass (US$529) offers unlimited and unrestricted skiing at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin with limited restrictions at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood. It includes a total of 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek, but with some US holiday restrictions.

There’s even an Epic ‘7-Day’ Pass (US$529/US$269), which is ideal for visitors or first-timers.  It provides a total of seven unrestricted days of skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Northstar, plus Arapahoe Basin anytime in the season.
