Ski clothing
What’s “HOT” on the slopes this season?
Brightly coloured ski gear, thermally heated ski clothing, head-cams, and Beanie hats will all make their mark on the 2012 – 13 ski season according to specialist ski chalet operator, Ski Beat.
Pinks, purples and turquoise are expected to be the ‘in’ colour on the slopes, with baggy trousers and long t-shirts worn low for the latest après-ski look.
According to Ski Beat’s resort staff in the French Alps, the label to be seen wearing in 2012-13 is Horsefeathers.
We’re also expecting to see an increase in self-heating products, like the self-heating jackets by Columbia that we covered in our feature Choosing the Right Ski Jacket.
Heated gloves are one of the latest luxury ski accessories – a trend which started when British ski instructors working in France started importing Biketek heated motorbike gloves. Now you can buy special electronically-heated Thermic power ski/snowboard gloves with three different settings which can be easily controlled from the outside of the glove. They are operated by a rechargable battery, providing up to 10 hours of heat, and are an absolute godsend for anyone who suffer from cold extremities. Sadly, they are currently only available in adult sizes.
Here at FSN, we also love the sound of Thermic MAX powerpack-heated bootwarmers too, which slip into your boots to provide up to 14 hours warmth. They even have remote controls to operate so you can adjust the setting as the temperatures drop.
But if you only treat yourself to one item of clothing this season, it’s got to be a beanie. Love it or hate it, the beanie is THE headgear for après-ski. Not only are beanies high fashion this year, they are considerably more affordable than the self-heating clothing and arguably every bit as warm! They also make excellent Christmas presents!
FamilySkiNews.com have been investigating headgear at the Ski Shows this season. Click here to find out which are the hottest beanie labels you should see-and-be-seen in this season!
