InterContinental, Davos
If you don’t fancy squeezing into a rabbit-hutch-sized apartment, or opting for an archetypal alpine chalet, why not stay in a giant pinecone!…
The InterContinental Davos is just that – an architectural interpretation of a pine cone – comprising 791 steel panels, each overlapping to create intricate dome.
It is the perfect grownup getaway from the kids for a long weekend… situated in the heart of the Alps, the room hotel was designed by Oliver Hofmeister of Munich-based firm Oikios, and draws a chic crowd to this upmarket Swiss resort.
The interior contains 213 rooms, several bars, lounge areas, and restaurants and a sumptuous Alpine spa, all in natural, calming, muted shades, textures and fabrics.
Needless to say, the eye-catching metallic exterior is painted a Champagne colour. Well, it is Davos after all!
Room prices start from CHF162. Contact InterContinental at www.ihg.com for further details.
