Spend the night at the top of a ski jump

Did you see The Jump on Channel 4 last month?
Do you fancy having a go at ski jumping?…

Or would you rather simply leave the energetic part to the experts and sleep in luxury at the top of a ski lift instead?

Yes, that’s right… if sleeping in a ski lift doesn’t grab you; if dining in a cablecar doesn’t sound your style; and if igloos and ice hotels seem, quite frankly, passé, now you can sleep at the top of a ski jump.

It’s the latest in the online accommodation-rental company AirBnB’s #NightAt campaign – which provides opportunities to you sleep in novel venues.  And they don’t come much more novel than this… an apartment at the top of the Holmenkollen ski jump in the Norwegian capital of Oslo… the home of Norwegian ski jumping!

Situated right at the top of the ski jump, this futuristic glass-walled apartment must be the ultimate penthouse suite.  It’s being constructed for just two nights – 26 and 27 March – complete with roof terrace, double bed and toilet.  There’s no bathroom, and we rather doubt there’s 24-hour room service either, although dinner and breakfast will be served in the VIP lounge!

To be in with a chance of winning an overnight stay there, simply visit the Holmenkollen listing on the AirBnB website by 23.59 on 16 March, and state why you think you should stay there.  But don’t apply if you are scared of heights!

Two winners will be selected to stay one night each for free, together with a friend. What’s more, don’t worry if you don’t live in Norway. AirBnB will fly you in from anywhere in the world for free!

And if all that’s not crazy enough, there’s one final thrill after breakfast… you get the chance to zipwire from the top of the ski jump back down to terra firma!  Aaaaarrrrgh….
